Unfortunately the southeasterly airflow extending across the North Sea didn't quite reach Unst with a cooler stiff northeasterly wind and light rain persisting on and off all day. The 3 juvenile Redpolls were still feeding in our garden. A walk around Norwick suggested passerine migration has pretty much stagnated seeing the Barred Warbler, a Lesser Whitethroat, the Chiffchaff, 2 Willow Warblers, Adrian's juvenile Red-backed Shrike that he found on the 6th and the 5 Common Rosefinches. A 20 minute sea-watch from Lamba Ness produced 5 Sooty Shearwaters before the visibility closed right in. By the time I'd walked out to the headland at Skaw the visibility had cleared and I saw another 3 Sooty Shearwaters in 15 minutes before the rain started again.
