Systematic List
following An Annotated Checklist of the Birds of the Oriental Region, (1996).
22. Chinese Francolin - Francolinus pintadeanus
DC was fortunate to obtain brief views of 1 disappearing from the side of the entrance road at Nam Nao during the early morning of the 18/2/99.
40. Rufous-throated Partridge - Arborophila rufogularis
A single individual was seen in the immediate vicinity of the three water tanks behind the Visitor's Centre near the summit of Doi Inthanon on the afternoon of the 5/3/99.
(44. Bar-backed Partridge - Arborophila brunneopectus)
Pairs of what we suspected to be this species were seen at Nam Nao on three occasions in 1999, but frustrating views never allowed for a conclusive identification to be made.
54. Scaly-breasted Partridge - Arborophila charltoni
A pair were seen near the start of Trail 1 at Khao Yai on the 12/2/99, followed by a single individual and then a pair along Trail 6 on the 13/2/99 and 14/2/99 respectively. The OBC Checklist (1996) treats this form as conspecific with Chestnut-necklaced Partridge which is given full species status in Lekagul & Round (1991).
58. Mountain Bamboo Partridge - Bambusicola fytchii
A party of 3 were flushed from fields surrounded by bamboo at around Km15 along the road that past the campsite at Doi Inthanon on the 27/2/99. At Doi Ang Khan a party of up to 5 were flushed from the orchard at Km19 on both the 1/3/99 and the 4/3/99 and at Doi Chaing Dao a single bird was flushed from the edge of the 4WD track along the last 5km leading to the substation.
74. Red Junglefowl - Gallus gallus
In 1999 up to 5 were seen on three dates at Khao Yai seemingly often crossing roads just after dawn, up to 3 were seen on four dates at the Summit Marsh at Doi Inthanon (although we often wondered about the provenance of these birds especially as the altitude exceeded that stated in Lekagul and Round), and finally a pair were flushed from the Temple Gully at Doi Chaing Dao on the 28th.
79. Silver Pheasant - Lophura nycthemera
