2nd May 2021 Unst N2 Overcast clearing

Our garden was playing host to a Chiffchaff and 5 Bramblings. A walk around Norwick produced a Pink-footed Goose on the beach, 4 Pied Wagtails, a Chiffchaff, a Willow Warbler and a Carrion Crow. I then spent a couple of hours seawatching from Lamba Ness seeing 2 Risso's Dolphins move north, 3 Killer Whales originally moving north but then headed back south, 3 Red-throated Divers - the last of which was accompanied by a winter-plumaged White-billed Diver that helpfully splashed-down enabling me to obtain some digi-scoped images before it commenced diving and moved further out off the tip of the point, c.300 Puffins, c.100 Guillemots, c.100 Razorbills, c.35 Bonxies and c.20 Kittiwakes all moving north. Whilst I was at Lamba Ness Brenda photographed an odd-looking Reed Bunting in our garden but on arriving home and searching for it I failed to see it. Late in the afternoon the Gulls started calling and the Common Buzzard was seen circling high above East Hill until lost to view in the clouds.

It's interesting to compare this odd-looking Reed Bunting with a previous odd Bunting documented on Unst in May 2009 here
