12th January 2019 Unst WNW5 Overcast

With an arctic storm raging to the north of Shetland yesterday it perhaps wasn't too surprising to see an influx of Gulls sheltering off Norwick today with numbers slowly building during the afternoon. A conservative estimate would be c.100 Great Black-backed Gulls, c.200 Herring Gulls including c.50 argentatus, 5 Glaucous Gulls (2 juv, 2w, 3w & ad) and a 2w Iceland Gull. We also saw a 2w Iceland Gull at Easter Loch and our first Dunlin of the year on the houb.
