With the wind increasing during the morning I spent 3 hours at Lamba Ness where a Storm Petrel was the highlight. First seen at 9.15am it then spent the next 45 minutes or so feeding in the mouth of Norwick bay being successfully twitched by Robbie being the first he's seen 'in the field' on Unst. Otherwise, a Blue Fulmar flew south at 10.15am and a few waders were seen arriving including a flock of 13 Whimbrel at 10.35am. Robbie then kindly text to say that he had seen a flock of Black-tailed Godwits and 5 Ruff in a cut hayfield at Buness the latter of which were still present mid-afternoon. A tour of likely wader sites revealed nothing more than 4 Sanderling and a few Dunlin on Haroldswick beach.
