A day not working started with near calm clear conditions that felt nice despite the unpromising wind direction. Skaw produced a Green Sandpiper but there was no sign of any migrant passerines. Lamba Ness was quieter still and I nearly chose to start painting the outside of the house but soon decided a quiet Norwick would still be a preferable option! A good move as we found an obliging Wood Warbler there. We then toured Halligarth, Climgera and the School where a second surprise came in the form of an early Goldcrest.
