We drove into Khao Yai just after 6am and stopped at the fruiting tree at Km33 where the two species of Hornbill were both in attendance and soon joined by a Common Green Magpie and a number of Mountain Imperial Pigeons. We were soon along Trail 6 where we spent the whole morning with highlights being a male Siberian Blue Robin and a Red-headed Trogon. On exiting the trail I picked out a Two-barred Greenish Warbler on call and even managed to record it with my digi-camera. We then spent a while at the Boonson Lekagul camp before trying another campsite where we met a young Thai birder who told us of another fruiting tree visible from the Viewpoint near the Pak Chong entrance where a Brown Hornbill had been seen a few days ago. We tried the viewpoint but unfortunately couldn't pinpoint the fruiting tree as we failed to see any Hornbill activity. We spent our last hour at Khao Yai National Park at a vantage overlooking a small pool hoping for Asian Elephant but although we heard them they unfortunately failed to show, although a female Asian Fairy Bluebird did so, and 15 Lesser Whistling Ducks were seen arriving at the small pool at dusk. We made our last visit to the Cowboy Restaurant for another good meal.
