1st October 2022 Unst SW3 Light rain

Light rain during the early morning soon cleared. The Ortolan Bunting duly reappeared in Norwick this morning and then Scott & Angela Wotherspoon found the first Barn Owl for Unst for 107 years at NorthDale that despite Geoff, Roger & Sue's best efforts we failed to see until this evening.

Norwick: Redwing, Blackcap, 4 Yellow-browed Warbler, Chiffchaff, 2 Goldcrest, 3 Siskin, 3 Common Redpoll, 5 Brambling, 2 Chaffinch, 3 Tree Sparrow & Ortolan Bunting.

Burrafirth: Lesser Whitethroat.

NorthDale: ringtail Hen Harrier, pale-breasted Barn Owl, Song Thrush, Redwing & Blackcap.

Otter off for an early morning dip - glad not to be doing likewise!
