Windier than forecast (not for the first time recently!) made for challenging conditions as most sites visited lacked shelter. A circuit around Norwick produced a Kestrel, 4 Goldcrests, 2 Tree Sparrows, 4 Redwings, 4 Bramblings, a Chaffinch, a Siskin and c.50 Mealy Redpolls. As we returned home a flock of 25 Snow Buntings flew past our garden. Burrafirth added a Fieldfare, 2 Song Thrush, 30 Redwings, a Yellow-browed Warbler, 12 Mealy Redpolls. A look around Haroldswick produced a Sparrowhawk, a Robin, a Song Thrush, a Blackcap, a Chiffchaff and 3 Goldcrests. We returned to Valyie late in the afternoon seeing a Pied Wagtail, a Redstart, a Ring Ouzel, a Fieldfare, 2 Chiffchaffs and a Greenland Redpoll.
