A circuit around Norwick produced a Grey Wagtail, a Tree Pipit, 10 Redwings, a Song Thrush, a Dunnock, 2 Yellow-browed Warblers, 10 Goldcrests, a Tree Sparrow and 50 Mealy Redpolls. I met Richard at Belmont having arrived on an earlier ferry than anticipated. We drove to Easter Loch where the flock of Tufted Duck was still accompanied by a Scaup. Lund and Westing were both quiet but a look at Baltasound produced 15 Wigeon, 2 Swallows, a Redstart, a Wheatear, an Eastern Lesser Whitethroat, a Siberian Chiffchaff, 2 Goldcrests and 2 Mealy Redpolls. Lamba Ness quickly produced point blank views of the Coues's Arctic Redpoll and 2 Mealy Redpolls and a Barred Warbler was present nearby. We spent the remaining daylight at Valyie where the Mealy Redpolls putting on a fine show with one landing on Richard's and then my head! There were also 3 Blackcaps present.
