4th October 2019 Unst NE4 Clear

A beautiful sunrise but disappointingly the wind was stronger than forecast (again!). Skaw was still playing host to the Whinchat and there was a Fieldfare along the northern cliffs. Norwick added a  juvenile Glaucous Gull, a Jack Snipe, a Pied Wagtail, c.40 Redwings, 2 Blackcaps, 2 Yellow-browed Warblers, 4 Goldcrests, 2 Bramblings, a Siskin and c.30 Mealy Redpolls. After teaming-up with Brydon on Lamba Ness reward came late in the afternoon as searching through several small flocks of mobile Mealy Redpolls we eventually found a Coues's Arctic Redpoll that Brydon had seen briefly near the tip yesterday afternoon. There were 3 Lapland Buntings also present at Lamba Ness.
