8th September 2016 S3 Overcast

Calmer than anticipated at dawn and seeing a Lesser Whitethroat on arriving at Skaw was a promising start, but then, just a Willow Warbler and the moulting adult Chiffchaff were seen. North Dale produced 2 Willow Warblers. Norwick unusually lacked shelter but a Common Rosefinch was seen in flight as it flushed from a crop. The only migrants seen on a tour of the Baltasound sites were a Lesser Whitethroat and a Pied Flycatcher at Setter's Hill. The mist then rolled-in and the southerly gale duly arrived.
