8th October 2021 Unst S3 Overcast

A much nicer day with light winds and no rain at last! As we left Valyie we picked out a superb pale juvenile Honey Buzzard gliding over heading southwest - unfortunately I didn't think to change the camera settings until it was drifting away! That was soon followed by chancing upon a Corncrake sat sunning itself that all too soon scuttled off into thick undergrowth before Richard saw it or I had chance to photograph it - a lengthy vigil hoping it might reappear went unrewarded.

Norwick: pale juvenile Honey Buzzard, Corncrake, Tree Pipit, 10 Redwings, Robin, 14 Blackcaps, 4 Chiffchaffs, 9 Brambling & 7 Snow Buntings.

NorthDale: Redwing, Dunnock, Common Redstart, Blackcap & Willow Warbler.

Haroldswick: Whinchat, Blackcap, Lesser Whitethroat & Goldcrest.

Baltasound: Blackcap, Lesser Whitethroat & Chiffchaff.
