2nd August 2020 Unst W3 Overcast

Just as in Spring, the first migrant Warbler of Autumn is always eagerly awaited and it's fair to say that it's proved a late start this year... on Unst in previous years before today's date, I've enjoyed the good fortune to find Great Reed Warbler, Icterine Warbler and Greenish Warbler. This morning's visit to Skaw produced a Sedge Warbler. A subsequent visit to Haroldswick added views of one of the adults of the first successful breeding pair for Unst now collecting food for presumably a second brood. Otherwise we saw a male Merlin at Norwick and 5 Whimbrel at Lamba Ness.
