1st October 2016 Unst Calm and clear

A calm and sunny day. Skaw was quiet with just the usual Chiffchaff present. Norwick also held onto some lingerers including the Whinchat, 4 Blackcaps, the Red-breasted Flycatcher and the Common Rosefinch although a Willow Warbler and a Yellow-browed Warbler were new. The Heritage Centre was playing host to 2 Yellow-browed Warblers. Haroldswick produced 3 Blackcaps, a nice short-billed Blyth's Lesser Whitethroat, a Yellow-browed Warbler and our first Bluethroat of the Autumn. The only migrant at the School was a Yellow-browed Warbler and 2 Goldcrests were seen nearby and a Yellow-browed Warbler was seen at Clingera. Another visit to Norwick produced 3 Yellow-browed Warblers, the Osprey sat on the cliffs of Lamba Ness and a touch of winter with a Long-tailed Duck sat in the bay and a Glaucous Gull flying over Clibberswick.
