11th October 2016 Unst NE2 Clear

The thickest frost of the Autumn so far so it wasn't too surprising that Skaw was quiet with just a Blackcap, the Chiffchaff and a Goldcrest seen. At Norwick we saw 2 Woodcock, a Dunnock, 2 Robins, a Fieldfare, 5 Redwings, the Red-breasted Flycatcher, a Blackcap, a Chiffchaff, a Goldcrest, the Red-backed Shrike, a Chaffinch, 30 Brambling and 2 Little Buntings. Haroldswick produced 2 Redwings, 2 Blackcaps, 2 Yellow-browed Warblers, 2 Chiffchaffs and a Goldcrest. We then checked a couple of fields at Uyeasound but there are very few Skylarks and Meadow Pipits on the island at the moment. There were the first 8 Goldeneye of the Autumn on the loch there. The School played host to a colourful Bluethroat, a Siberian Chiffchaff, a Yellow-browed Warbler and 6 Mealy Redpolls and there was a Siberian Chiffchaff at the Post Office. The only migrant seen at Clingera was a Yellow-browed Warbler.
