23rd November 2013 Dasyueshan Amnashan

A good look around the accommodation area failed to produce any sign of any White-throated Laughingthrushes so we headed up to the bamboo trail in the hope that Golden Parrotbills might be more active at that time. No Parrotbills but at least three Silver-backed Needletails put on a fine display zooming around the clear blue skies - no wind turbines here thankfully! JFC's upset stomach necessitated a return to our old wooden cottage that was well-timed as it coincided with a large party of Rusty Laughingthrushes moving through the area - our only encounter with this endemic. We again searched the area in vain for White-throated Laughingthrush before trying the nearby tree nursery for the same species. Still no second Laughingthrush but a Taiwan Wren-Babbler put on a fine show hopping alongside us on a vegetated bank of the track albeit too dark for photographs to be obtained.
