9th December 2018 Bangalore to Mysore, India

After our early morning IndiGo flight from Port Blair we arrived on time at Bangalore where we were met by a new driver to commence the long drive to Mysore. The journey was enlivened by seeing a couple of Booted Eagles. As we approached Mysore we checked a rocky gorge for our target species of the day being Indian Eagle-Owl but we failed to find any. Not to worry, Jijo knew of a second gorge where we quickly found an Owl in residence so we stayed until dusk to wait for it to emerge to hunt. We also saw a nice selection of other dry country species including our first wintering Booted Warblers. As we made our after dark approach to Mysore the only puncture of the trip didn't prove too much of an inconvenience as the driver soon had the tyre changed. We checked-in to the plush Southern Star Hotel.
