With a cold northeasterly combined with squally hail showers I was pleased to seawatch from the shelter of the walls on Lamba Ness where I saw 12 blue Fulmars and 5 Little Auks all fly north in 90 minutes. Skaw was playing host to a Song Thrush, 5 Redwings and a flock of 6 Snow Buntings flew out towards the headland. A Waxwing made a brief visit to our garden where it ignored the apples but took a drink from our tiny pond before flying off towards Norwick. At Valyie I saw a Merlin, 2 Woodcock, a Long-eared Owl, 2 Robins and a Common Rosefinch. Haroldswick added a Fieldfare and North Dale a Siberian Chiffchaff.
