4th March 2019 Unst NE1 Overcast

A much nicer day than forecast being calm and dry until 2.30pm when the forecast rain eventually arrived. Skaw proved very quiet and a walk to Valyie and back proved likewise albeit the House Martin was still present flying around Kirkaton in the warm sunshine when it was clear there were plenty of small insects for it to feed on. A walk around Haroldswick provided a surprise in the form of a Peacock butterfly being on the wing that had presumably successfully over-wintered nearby. A Reed Bunting present at the pool was our first of the year. A look around Baltasound then drew a blank on locating any Redpolls.
