An early seawatch produced a winter-plumaged Red-throated Diver flying north - all others seen have been in summer plumage. The Shore Lark was still present and Mike Pennington's 3 Snow Buntings were seen that included a full summer-plumaged male and the juvenile Glaucous Gull was patrolling the cliffs. A Carrion Crow at Skaw was quickly seen off by a Hooded Crow. We decided to head for Basta on Yell where we were treated to superb views of Brydon's White-billed Diver as it dozed on the sea not far off the cliffs. A shopping stop at Mid Yell produced a bleached juvenile Iceland Gull near the pier. The return ferry to Unst produced further views of the drake Surf Scoter.
