In what felt like a promising southeasterly airflow today it failed to deliver as a check of the northern sites produced just 12 Sanderling that included the first 2 juveniles I've seen this Autumn, 25 Turnstone, 29 Dunlin, a Swallow, a Garden Warbler that had already been seen by Rob Fray and a Chiffchaff!
Stooks at Millfield - it must be autumn!

The maximum known age from ringing is 38 years albeit the typical lifespan is 15 years.
