22nd May 2024 Unst SE3 Overcast

A day spent guiding for Shetland Nature took a dramatic turn when I found Britain's 11th Green Warbler at Valyie. This one's for my Dad, with whom I spent many happy hours learning the intricacies of Phyllosc identification and then travelling to some far-flung destinations to see as many of them as possible! I still vividly remember us seeing our first Green Warblers together 27 years ago whilst trekking Langtang in Nepal.

Baltasound: female Red-backed Shrike.

Norwick: Turtle Dove, female Red-backed Shrike, singing Marsh Warbler, Icterine Warbler, 2 Garden Warbler, Green Warbler & Spotted Flycatcher
