We were out soon after dawn for a boat trip with Romzi along the Menanggul River until c.11am. Highlights included a Storm's Stork that came flying along the river and fortuitously perched in a tree above us, a Sabah Dwarf-Kingfisher, a Blue-winged Pitta that flew back and forth across the tributary, a party of 3 Bristleheads, a pair of Bornean Black Magpies and a surprise Yellow-rumped Flowerpecker. We were out again at around 2pm for a boat trip along the Russan River and then the Kinabatangan River for the afternoon. Whilst the trip didn't go to plan as we failed to find any White-crowned Hornbills it was very enjoyable seeing such a wealth of birdlife along the rivers. After dark we went spotlighting by boat along the Menanggul River hearing a Large Frogmouth and seeing a Bornean Wood Owl.
