1st October 2009 Hegura-jima

1/10/09 Out at 5.30am with John Williams and a japanese twitcher to a nice sunrise with clear skies and a NE1 breeze that slightly increased during the day to ENE2 by dusk but that strengthened after dark. Saw the Whinchat at the beach to the south of the pool also showing it to Maki-san who had newly-arrived for it from Tobishima Island. Hence, promoted to a hero and a God!! Buff-bellied Pipit, Japanese Grey Thrush and Tristram's Bunting were all new for the trip but otherwise rather few migrants present.
