Adult drake Marbled Duck at Arlington Reservoir

The pale subterminal band to the bill and bushy crest render this bird a drake. It was occasionally performing the neck-stretch-head-jerk display of the species described in BWP. Clearly undergoing its post-breeding moult it has commenced replacing its inner secondaries on both wings.

Juvenile Little Egret at Arlington Reservoir

Note the greyish lores and greenish legs.
