Bonaparte’s Gull 1 ad.w. Pagham Lagoon. Noticeably smaller than accompanying Black-headed Gulls being more delicate-looking. In flight very white underwings with black trailing edge to primaries. Whiteness of underwings almost recalled Meditteranean Gull. Mantle and upperwings rather dark grey. Primaries black with small white mirrors. Upperwings grey with white wedge formed by white outer primaries with dark trailing edge to primaries. Small all black bill. Black eye. Black spot on ear coverts with dusky grey area across crown. Legs pale pink. Sussex addition.
