Norwick: 2 Great Northern Diver, 6 Whooper Swans flew northeast, Long-tailed Duck, Woodcock, 7 Robin, 5 Fieldfare, 7 Redwing, 5 Blackcap, 2 Chiffchaff, 6 Chaffinch, Brambling & 3 Redpoll.

12th November 2022 Unst SSW3 Overcast

I completed my usual circuit around Norwick and we then completed the island-wide Swan survey resulting in a total of 37 Whoopers and 24 Mute.

Norwick: Great Northern Diver, Long-tailed Duck, Woodcock, 6 Robin, 25 Redwing, 2 Fieldfare, Blackcap, 4 Chiffchaff, Goldcrest, 8 Chaffinch & Brambling.

Loch of Cliff: Coot.

Uyeasound: 37 Whooper Swans (7 juv), 24 Mute Swans (all adults), 250 Long-tailed Duck, c.30 Goldeneye, Black Redstart, Robin & Blackcap.

Westing: Little Grebe.

11th November 2022 mainland Shetland SW3 Overcast

Whilst working near Toft I'd just started my lunch-break when news arrived that the faithful pod of Orcas were approaching that duly passed at very close range. Otherwise just 2 Fieldfare and a Snow Bunting seen of note.

After a day spent working on mainland it was nice to be back walking around Norwick although I failed to see what I felt was a new migrant.

Norwick: Merlin, 3 Robin, Song Thrush, 5 Redwing, 2 Blackcap, 3 Chiffchaff, Chaffinch & 6 Brambling.
